FOOD FOR LIFE
Food for Life is an award-winning nutrition education and cooking class program designed by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. We promote healthful eating based on the latest scientific research and offer an innovative approach to diet-related chronic diseases. Since 2001, Food for Life has been a pioneer in delivering hands-on information about the direct role of plant-based nutrition in health and disease prevention to communities around the world.
Most Food for Life classes include:
Specific information about how certain foods and nutrients work to promote or discourage disease
A supportive and motivational atmosphere to empower participants to take charge of their health with the foods put on their plates
Audio Visuals, demonstrations, food samples (when meeting in person), and resources
Practical cooking skills and tips for incorporating healthful eating habits into daily life
In addition many of my classes include the opportunity to participate in a mini-cooking class!
Are you striving to trim your waistlines, tackle diabetes, lower blood pressure or just improve overall health? Nutrition Essentials presents an engaging and effective way to help you reach your goals. It is based on scientific studies and encourages vegetables, fruits, legumes and whole grains. These foods can help prevent diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and other chronic diseases.
Diet-related chronic diseases are major threats to Americans. Overweight and obesity now affect the majority of the U.S. population, increasing the risk of preventable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease.
Healthy Basics will focus on understanding that healthful eating can be less expensive than nutrient-poor grocery products. We will learn that health-promoting foods, recipes, and meals can be easy, convenient, and taste great! Each one-hour class will feature some discussion, a cooking demonstration, and the opportunity to taste healthful, plant-based dishes.
